Why was this difficult?
Reading is automatic (System 1 - Fast). Naming colours requires effort (System 2 - Slow). When the word and ink colour conflict, your brain has to suppress the automatic reading response (Interference).
In Healthcare:
In high-pressure situations (like a cardiac arrest), our brains revert to "System 1".
- We might assume the Red syringe is Muscle Relaxant because it's *always* Red, even if the label says otherwise.
- We might misread a drug label because we "expect" it to say something else.
Safety barriers (like distinct packaging) exist to prevent System 1 errors.
